City of Sesser Awarded $221,706 DRA Grant for Water Main Replacement

 In Grants & Awards

The Delta Regional Authority has awarded the City of Sesser a grant of $221,706. The City will use the awarded funds to replace an aging water main along the 100 and 200 blocks of Illinois Route 154/Franklin Avenue to improve services to businesses and residents. The existing water main is several decades old. This investment is projected to affect 20 families.

Funding for this project is provided by the States’ Economic Development Assistance Program (SEDAP), which provides direct investment into community-based and regional projects to support basic public infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, workforce training and education, and small businesses development with an emphasis on entrepreneurship, and the Community Infrastructure Fund (CIF), which targets physical infrastructure projects that help build safer, more resilient communities in the Delta region.  DRA coordinates directly with the Office of the Governor for the State of Illinois and five local development districts in the state for program funding implementation.

The City of Sesser would like to thank the DRA Federal Co-Chairman Chris Caldwell, Governor J.B. Pritzker, our Illinois Congressmen, our U.S. Senators, and our Governor’s DRA Representative Brandi Bradley for making this possible.

It is a great advantage for Sesser, Illinois to have such a Grant to assist us in the repair and replacement of a main water line.

Seeing the work being completed at an excellent pace with the materials already available to complete the task in such a short period of time.

While applying for Grants is such a tedious process, the entire process with the completion of the work desired is truly worth the time spent in the initial process.

We send our thanks to those involved in not only completing the applications but in our continued search for such programs that Sesser may take advantage and be successful.

    Merci Beaucoup!!!
